EXPLORE YOUR
OPTIONS!

Are you undecided about a major? If
so, you are not alone. About 25% of Fort Hays State University
students are undecided or change majors at some point in their
college careers. That's why FHSU created a unique exploratory program
called the Associate of General Studies (AGS).
The AGS program can
provide the opportunity to study topics and issues you might find
interesting and help you to discover your strengths and skills.
The program offers an intellectually exciting and academically
demanding curriculum for students seeking a college degree designed
especially to meet their educational needs. At the end of your
first two years, you will have earned an AGS degree. The degree
can be an intermediate step on your way to a bachelor's degree.
Most importantly, the program provides the freedom to select a
major and go on to fulfill the bachelor's degree of your choice.
Many
students are taking of advantage of Acceleration
Mechanisms (ACE, CLEP, DANTES, etc.) to complete 30
of the AGS credit hours. No more than a combined total of 30 hours
will be accepted within the AGS program. Prior to taking accelerated
exams, please review the FHSU credit policies identified in each
exam description.
*AGS
degree summaries will be completed only after a student
has been admitted to the University and provided all necessary
transcripts. Please contact the Center for Interdisciplinary
Studies at the e-mail or phone number provided below after
admission to the University is complete. Please allow five
business days for an unofficial checklist checklist to be
completed. Official degree summaries are completed after
one semester of enrollment at FHSU.
