Staff Introductions

Dr. Patricia Griffin

Welcome back to Fall Semester 2005. Here’s hoping that you were able to catch a little rest and relaxation over the summer.
My name is Patti Griffin. I am the director of the Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center/Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. I have both a B.A. and a M.S. degree in communication and my PhD is in Curriculum, Instruction and Policy of Higher Education. I am a diehard Tiger Fan and enjoy being part of the FHSU Family.

I am excited about the new academic year and the opportunities that lie in front of each of us. The Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center is intended to provide support services relating mainly to academic advising, academic probation and suspension, career exploration and professional development for students, faculty and staff at Fort Hays State University. Key support for faculty and staff is provided through professional development activities.

Nearly all faculty advise at FHSU and we have a vested interest you. AACE will be offering a T.I.G.E.R. Workshop Series for Faculty and Staff this year. The series will cover 20 topics that are related to academic advising. Watch your e-mail for the fall schedule.

The T.I.G.E.R. Workshops Series is a great way to be aware of what is going on in relation to academic advising and to network with other faculty and staff. I hope to see you at the workshops or stop by the center and meet our staff. GO Tigers!

Ms. Caroline Fox   WELCOME NEW FACULTY! My name is Caroline Fox and I am the Coordinator of Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center. I have a B.S. in History and a M.S. in College Student Personnel Services with an emphasis in Counseling from Kansas State University. I have been at Fort Hays State University for two years and have enjoyed getting to know the faculty and staff all over campus. Building these relationships is paramount in helping our center be successful. We do a variety of things in our office, but I wanted to tell you what my responsibilities are. I am the Academic Advisor for all the undecided students on campus and virtually. I do the career exploration process which consists of career counseling appointments or I have a career exploration course called EAC 100 Career Planning and Development. This course is offered on campus as well as virtually. My graduate assistant is Lyndsey Rice who is from the Educational Administration & Counseling Community Counseling program. She helps me with the advising and career counseling.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU? You may visit with students that are undecided or who are not sure that they are in the right major, or want to confirm that they are in the right major. Please send them our way. We offer many resources to help these students make that decision. In addition, I am available to visit your class to talk with the students about our services. You can contact me at 628-5577 or cfox@fhsu.edu.
