Career Exploration Workshop

The Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center is conducting two informational sessions on career exploration this month. These workshops are an excellent opportunity for students who are unsure about their current major to learn about our career exploration process. We hope you will encourage students in your classes or advisees to attend this workshop. Verification of attendance will be provided upon request. Please contact AACE at 628-5577 to let us know that you will be sending a class to one of our sessions.

When is the best time to do Career Exploration? Now! Research states that students need the beginning of the semester to get familiar with their new classes, then they do career exploration in the middle, which will allow them to choose a major before they enroll for the next semester. Have your students call our the Academic Advising & Career Exploration Center today to schedule an appointment!

Privacy issues for students especially faculty and advisee e-mail correspondence has been discussed by the Academic Advising Committee. The Academic Advising Committee encourages you to append the following message (written by University Counsel) to your lotus notes messages when corresponding with students.

To add the email footer, please follow the step-by-step instructions provided below.

To add a personal signature to all messages
You need to create a text to use as your signature before you can complete the following steps.

  1. From the menu, choose Actions - Tools - Preferences.
  2. Click the Signature tab.
  3. Next, do the following:
    To enter text directly, select Text, enter text in the text area, and click OK.
  4. Select "Automatically append a signature to the bottom of my outgoing mail messages."
  5. Click OK.

NOTE: You can change the signature at any time by repeating the procedure and entering new text or browsing to a different file. You can remove the signature by turning off the check box in step 4.

This session will be presented by the Registrar's Office. It will provide you with information regarding degree summaries and how to utilize them when working with advisees.

TIGER 202: Career Exploration Center (AACE)
This session will cover the Career Development process for your advisees. Information will be provided on the career exploration services offered at FHSU and the four-year career plan that you can utilize with your advisees.

This session will be presented by the Graduate School. Information will be provided regarding the application process, programs of study and how to utilize them when working with advisees.
