TigerEnroll
Begins Pilot October 16, 2006
Fort Hays State University turned on the Pilot of the new TigerEnroll
Online Enrollment System on October 16, 2006. This pilot includes
410 current FHSU students who have declared majors in general studies
(associate or bachelors) and students who are undecided.
The new system will allow students to work with their advisor to
complete a worksheet, determine any enrollment holds on the student
account, pre-enroll, finalize enrollment and make schedule changes
once enrolled. The implementation of TigerEnroll will allow for
enhancement in the advising relationship. The focus of many advising
appointments has been on the class schedule set up with much of
the time focused on selecting the section of a course. The new system
will allow for advisors to provide more guidance in the following
areas:
University Goal 1
To help students clarify individual values, career goals, and the
challenges of life in the 21st century.
University
Goal 2
To develop suitable educational plans and programs of study for
each student.
University
Goal 3
To help student select appropriate courses and other educational
opportunities.
University
Goal 4
To help students review and evaluate progress toward established
educational goals and completion of requirements within individual
programs of study.
University
Goal 5
To develop student awareness and understanding that decision-making
in the advising process and life is based on a system of shared
responsibility.
University
Goal 6
To encourage students to utilize University support services and
related resources as needed (Kelly Center, Career Services, etc.).
University
Goal 7
To clarify and improve the student's knowledge of career options
and potential for career change in the workplace of the 21st century.
University
Goal 8
To address the individualized academic advising needs of a diverse
student population.
TigerEnroll information
will be provided to the campus community as we move forward through
the pilot phase to institutional implementation. This is an exciting
time at Fort Hays State University that will allow for stronger
connections to the university through a key relationship with advisors.

Academic Advising Committee
The purpose of the Academic Advising Committee is to implement and
continuously improve a university academic advising plan designed
to help on- and off-campus students understand institutional policies
and procedures, learn about curriculum and career choices, and provide
counseling about a wide range of academic decisions. The committee
is responsible for assessment of institutional advising, implementation
of the Regents' academic advising baseline, selection of outstanding
advisers for awards, and other activities and initiatives related
to the University's academic advising function.
This year's committee met for the first time for a view of the new
TigerEnroll Online Enrollment System on September 25, 2006. The

Noel Levitz Provides
Snapshot of Freshmen
Fort Hays State University has incorporated the Noel-Levitz College
Student Inventory into their Retention Program in an effort to determine
services that on-campus first-time freshmen need prior to their
arrival to campus. This years snapshot has provided us with the
opportunity to make numerous referrals to the following services:
academic assistance, career counseling, financial assistance, personal
counseling, and social enhancement. The Noel-Levitz was completed
by 723 new freshmen during early registration. Table 1 shows the
breakdown of referrals made for these students.
