Undergraduate Research Experience (URE) Grant

Applications are now available for the FY18 Undergraduate Research Experience Grant! All disciplines are eligible. All current full-time FHSU faculty and unclassified staff at levels comparable to academic faculty are eligible to apply.
Maximum Grant Award: $5,000
Submission Deadline: September 5, 2017


NEW for FY 18: Five (5) bonus points will be added to the total score of applicants who have never received an URE grant before!

$5,000 in grant funding will be reserved for special consideration of proposals from the following departments that have been historically underrepresented:
Art and Design
English
History
Modern Languages
Music and Theatre
Philosophy

A URE grant workshop will be held August 30 from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM in the Memorial Union Prairie Room. Reservations for this workshop are not required, but are appreciated. Information about this workshop, and others is available here.

Graduate Scholarly Experience (GSE) Grant

The FY18 Graduate Scholarly Experience (GSE) Grant Program is open for applications. All current Fort Hays State University graduate students are eligible to apply. Approved projects may not receive the full amount of funding requested. If funded, Fall awards must be spent between July 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. Spring awards must be spent between January 1, 2018 and June 10, 2018. More details will be provided in the award letter.
Applications may be used for either: consumable supplies for proposed research/scholarly/creative work OR to help defray costs for travel to present the results of such work.

Maximum Grant Award: $500
Submission Deadline: October 30, 2017


Any papers, articles, posters, pictures, compositions, artwork or other media that may be produced as a result of grant funding should be archived in the FHSU Scholar's Repository. Grant awardees are encouraged to present project results or updates regarding progress towards the goals of the grant activity to the university community (presentations, John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activities Day, departmental presentations, exhibits, recitals, etc.).

Applications are currently closed for this Internal Funding Opportunity. Please check back in the Spring semester. Deadlines are usually in mid-February.

All current full-time Fort Hays State University faculty and unclassified staff members at levels comparable to academic faculty are eligible to apply. Support is paid to the faculty member in the amount of 60% of 1/9 of their base salary. Successful applicants who are awarded a FY18 Summer Grant for Research, Creativity or Grants Activity must have the permission of the Dean to teach a course in Summer 2018. Only complete proposals will be reviewed. Additional information may be attached, but all materials must be submitted by the deadline.

Applicants may apply for a grant in any of three categories:
Research Activity
Creative Activity
Grant Application Development

If funded, project summary reports are due to the appropriate Dean and the Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects no later than October 1. Failure to do so will impact future eligibility for internal grants.
