Dr. Larry Gould, a former NCCI Board member who led the Association's push toward online engagement and collaboration, was selected by a Board of Directors committee to receive the Brent D. Ruben Award. The award is presented to an NCCI member in appreciation of their leadership in founding and sustaining NCCI to advance excellence in higher education.
Gould is the Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. As Provost, he provides leadership, ensures academic accountability, encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, facilitates the work of faculty, staff and students and serves as a public intellectual promoting the culture, spirit and value of the academy. The provost works closely with the president in developing University priorities and in administering program budgets and faculty personnel policies. Larry's leadership has inspired the largest public distance learning operation in Kansas, and Gould has been instrumental in sustaining civic leadership and service learning at Fort Hays and among other AASCU institutions.
He has been active in NCCI for a number of years. Gould served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Team of NCCI. He chaired NCCI's Dissemination Team from 2009 to 2012. The Dissemination Team recommends strategies for communications and information sharing, including platform for delivering multiple services through technology.
Gould received the award at NCCI's 2013 Annual Conference, July 11-13, 2013 in Indianapolis, IN.
