Unlock the Magic of Kansas Familiarization Tour
Ben
Standard, an employee for the economic development committee in
Meade, KS, has seen the need to develop his community. He
lives in a small community in southwest Kansas that is striving
to stay on the map. It contains several historic sites and the
attractions are slowly declining in their visitors. Ben wanted
to find a way to attract more visitors to Meade.
His vision was for the project to: Attract a familiarization
tourism group that will add Meade to their tour. They will develop
a more
attractive community in order to attract more people to their historic
sites, such as the Dalton Gang Hideout, Meade County Historical
Society, and the downtown of Meade.
This will be a collaborative effort between Ben and Louis Podrebarac,
who is on the Chamber of Commerce, is President of the Economic
Development board, and a member of the Meade County Historical
Society.
Some of the activities that Ben planned for his project are for
downtown flower planters, new street banners, a new entry to the
museum, detailing Meade’s trolley, new easels for business
displays, training and costuming enthusiastic hosts, collaborating
with property owners to pick up unattractive areas, planting bedding
plants at various locations, and developing a new and fun menu
for tourists.
