Graduate Credit (Optional) Enroll and pay for one hour of graduate credit on the day of the seminar. Students will be assigned a culminating project.

Registration Policy: Each seminar has a registration deadline, but please note these seminars tend to fill very quickly. Therefore, registrations will be accepted until the seminar fills.*You must include the $75.00 registration for each Seminar. No walk-in registrations please.

“School-Related Stress Management: Finding the Silver Lining”
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This seminar will focus on how to use humor in and out of the classroom to improve the learning environment using research driven positive and negative stress strategies.


March 28th, 2009
“Re-thinking Zero Tolerance in the Classroom”
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The values school systems profess must align with the actions they demonstrate. Student intolerance can result from zero tolerance policies as it can hinder students from learning such traits as understanding, kindness, generosity, benevolence, and justice. This seminar will focus on research-based strategies designed to help educators differentiate between good students who might make typical adolescent mistakes, and the unmanageable student who is consistently engaging in unproductive classroom behavior.

“Incorporating Cell-phone Technology into the Classroom: Re-Examining School Board Policies”
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This seminar will focus on research-based strategies that will demonstrate how to capitalize on the legitimate use of cell-phones and other personal data devices PDA’s such is IPods and Mp3 players in the classroom, while preventing possible privacy violations and cheating. School Board policies designed to support the utilization of cell-phones in the classroom will also be discussed.

“Reflection: What, So What, Now What”
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This seminar will provide research-based processes designed to promote reflection as an examination and interpretation of lived experiences and the promotion of cognitive learning. Strategies will be presented to help the educator explore the process of looking back on the implications of actions taken - good and bad - determining what has been gained, lost, or achieved, and connecting these conclusions to future actions and larger societal contexts.
