This certificate is designed for practicing teachers who wish to increase their knowledge of reading and writing strategies and materials used in PK-12 classrooms. Reading and writing mean more than knowing how to put letters together to form words, sentences and paragraphs. It means comprehending, constructing and critically synthesizing principles and concepts. For teachers, pupil mastery of reading and writing is the difference between students who barely get by or drop out, and those who excel and proceed to higher levels of academic achievement. |
This program is designed to enhance practicing teachers’ proficiency in a set of core conceptual competencies and skills in the area of reading and writing. Teachers desiring to participate in this program must hold a valid teaching license with a minimum of two years of full time teaching experience by the completion of this program. THIS IS NOT A LICENSURE PROGRAM |
