Meet Licensure Requirements for Kansas – and Beyond...
Shaping the future of PreK-12 students requires
a state-issued license. The completion of program requirements at Fort Hays
State University partially fulfills licensure requirements for the state of
Kansas. To complete Kansas
licensure, candidates must hold an initial license and fulfill the following
additional requirements:
- Verification of successful completion of the
appropriate content assessment as determined by the state board;
- Verification of at least one year of recent
accredited experience or at least eight semester hours of recent credit;
- Successful completion of the appropriate KSDE
performance assessment.
- NOTE: This is for all program areas except ESOL,
Special Education Adaptive, and Special Education Gifted;
- Submission of an application for the license and
the licensure fee.
Since certification and
testing requirements in other states are subject to change, you will need contact
the appropriate state certification office and inquire about the requirements
and steps to take for certification outside Kansas. However, the Department of Advanced
Education Programs enrolls many students from around the country who have
determined that our programs meet state requirements.
