- The Americans with Disabilites Act requires employers to make reasonable accomodations in order for qualified individuals with disabilites to be able to perform a specific job.
- It is the responsibility of the employee or applicant to request an accommodation.
- Determinations of disabilities and reasonableness are all situation specific.

| Family and Medical Leave Act |
- The Family and Medical Leave Act applies to all qualified employees.
- Determination of whether an employee is qualified is based on years of employment and whether or not they are full time.
- A determination of whether the leave would create a hardship for the employer is made at the time of the first request.
