The horse and sheep building was erected in the late 1970s to partially serve as a lab for agriculture students. Today, the sheep herd includes 40 ewes and 4 rams raised mainly for market and some for show. Besides being used for learning purposes and by the judging teams, animals are available for local 4-H members to purchase to show at the county fairs. In the fall, the livestock judging team travels to practice contests and competes during the spring. In addition to the livestock judging team, FHSU also has a crop judging team.
