Details
Computer
Programmer:
Computer Programmers
write detailed instructions that list in logical order the
steps the computer must follow to organize data, solve a
problem,
or do some other task. They test the operation of programs
to be sure instructions are correct and will produce the
desired
information. If errors occur, programs must be changed
and rechecked until they produce the correct results. Programmers
prepare instruction sheets for computer operators who will
run the programs. Applications Programmers write
software to handle specific jobs. Systems Programmers
maintain the software that controls the operation of the
entire
computer system.
Database
Analyst:
Database Analysts
coordinate, design, and develop computer databases. They
code, test, and implement databases, applying knowledge
of database management. Database Analysts establish
database parameters. They code database descriptions
and specify identifiers of the database to the database
management
system. They specify user access level for each segment
of one or more data items and specify which users can access
databases and what data can be accessed by the user.
Database Analysts test and correct errors, and refine changes
to the database. They select and enter codes of utility
programs to monitor database performance.
Systems
Analyst:
Systems Analysts
use their knowledge and skills in a problem solving capacity,
implementing the means for computer technology to meet the
individual needs of an organization. They study business,
scientific, or engineering data processing problems and
design
new solutions using computers. This process may include
planning and developing new computer systems or devising
ways
to apply existing systems to operation still completed manually
or by some less efficient method. Systems Analysts
may design entirely new systems, including both hardware
and
software, or add a single new software application to harness
more of the computer's power. They work to help an
organization realize the maximum benefit from its investment
in equipment,
personnel, and business processes.
Programmer
Analyst:
Programmer Analysts
are responsible for both systems analysis and programming.
Technical
Writers:
Technical Writers
communicate through the written word. They make scientific
and technical information easily understandable to a nontechnical
audience. They convey scientific and technical information
precisely, accurately, and clearly. Technical Writers
prepare operating and maintenance manuals, catalogs, parts
lists, assembly instructions, sales promotion materials,
and project proposals. Technical writers research,
develop, write and edit such materials. They also
plan and edit technical reports and oversee preparations
of illustrations,
photographs, diagrams, and charts.
