I was born in Hays, Kansas and raised in Russell, Kansas. After graduating from Russell High School, I served two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Myer, Virginia. After completing my military service, I attended Fort Hays State University and received a bachelor's degree in 1962. In 1964, I received a master's degree from Kansas State University and went to work for Boeing Computer services in Wichita, KS as a computer/programmer/analyst. In 1970 I served as an instructor at Marymount College in Salina, KS for one year. The teaching experience at Marymount convinced me to make a career as a university faculty member and I subsequently earned a Ph.D. in 1974 from Kansas State University. Fort Hays State University hired me in 1974, and I have been teaching here since then. Other courses I typically teach include: Production/Operations Research, Systems Architecture and Visual Basic.Net Programming.
