Campus Facilities
In general, students begin by learning the academic theory in the classroom.
Then, they apply those principles in the laboratory setting and are evaluated
during simulated procedures. Once they have demonstrated their competence
in the simulated procedures, the students are ready to begin their clinical
experiences where they will be working with real patients.
On campus, the students begin by discussing the procedure and reviewing
the radiographic anatomy.
After the group discussion, students move into the laboratories
to practice the procedure. In the photograph below, one student
is the patient while her classmate is practicing the positioning
for an X-ray series of the left hand. The photograph also shows
the equipment in X-ray Room 1.

In the mammography laboratory course, students have "hands-on"
experiences with different mammographic units.
The ultrasound room is used by students for "hands-on" experiences
with either real patients or students simulating patients.
