Certificate programs in the Department of Applied Business Studies require 12 credit hours and are composed of courses specific to an area of study. All classes leading to a certificate must be taken for credit, and courses cannot be counted towards more than one certificate.

Eligibility

Only non-majors are eligible for certificates. For example, a marketing major is not eligible for a certificate in marketing. Otherwise, a student can complete a certificate program regardless of their major.

How to Get Started

Students are designated as "certificate students" when they submit an "Intent to Complete Certificate" form (you'll find these accompanying each certificate listing below). Please print and complete the form and mail or deliver it to:

Department of Applied Business Studies
Fort Hays State University
600 Park Street
McCartney Hall 206
Hays, KS 67601

Upon completion of certificate requirements (demonstrated by the student submitting an official FHSU transcript to the department), the department chair will authorize the issuance of a printed certificate. Please note that certificate programs are not noted on a student's official transcript; however, completion of a certificate should be included on a student's resume to demonstrate attainment of a level of education in a management or marketing related discipline which is more than completing a certain number of academic courses.
