According to the SVP's policy on distribution of pdf files, the author has the following right among others:

"Without fee payment, the right to send a copy of the article in pdf form to persons on their reprint mailing list, and to persons who request a copy as per (2) above, provided that the pdf is accompanied by the clear statement that: (a) Society of Vertebrate Paleontology is the copyright holder of the article and pdf; (b) the pdf is provided to the recipient for her/his personal use only and is not to be redistributed or disseminated, except for educational use within a school, college, or university setting, and then only if accompanied by a clear statement of these conditions. Such an author-distributed version must be identical to the final published version."
