Now in its 38th year of publication, The Prairie Naturalist fills a significant niche for communicating research on the North American grasslands and their biota. All aspects of the natural history of the region are covered, as indicated by the examples of recent articles listed below. This journal offers timely technical information for researchers, educators, students, and the interested public in general. Published quarterly, The Prairie Naturalist reaches subscribers throughout the United States and Canada as well as libraries in Europe and Asia. Each volume contains over 250 pages devoted mainly to articles based upon detailed scientific research. About 10% of each volume is devoted to shorter and less comprehensive communications (notes) and book reviews. Manuscripts containing original material not submitted elsewhere are considered for publication; all are reviewed by specialists in relevant fields, with a rejection rate of about 30%. Articles are abstracted in Biological Abstracts, Fisheries Review, Wildlife Review, and other abstract journals.

A 25-year index to The Prairie Naturalist is available. The index is cross-referenced by author, subject, taxonomy, and geographic area. To obtain an index, send a check or money order for $20.00 to: Great Plains Natural Science Society, 8065 51 ½ Street SE, MontpelierND58472.
