What Does GPNSS Do?

Actively promotes the study of natural history of the Great Plains region,
including geology, plants, birds, mammals, fish, insects, and other forms
of life.

Publishes The Prairie Naturalist, a widely read, peer-reviewed journal
which deals with the natural history and environment of the Great
Plains region. The journal, published quarterly, includes full-length
articles, short notes, and book reviews.

Provides educational field trips to acquaint members and the general public
with the life, land forms, and natural beauty of the Great
Plains region. Also holds annual meetings at which lectures
on the natural history of the area are presented.

Together with local, state, and national conservation organizations, fosters
natural resource conservation and preservation of outstanding natural areas.

Issues a quarterly newsletter containing features, news, and announcements
for the Society.
