The Women's Leadership Project is an initiative by FHSU's Center for Civic Leadership that is designed to educate, inspire, and empower women to be the leaders of tomorrow. This initiative expands the already successful Kansas Women's Leadership Conference to offer year-round comprehensive educational activities that promote leadership development for women of all ages. Beyond these educational activities, the Women's Leadership Project will serve as a place of support and inspiration for women seeking to make their mark on history.
This project has two major objectives. First, the Women's Leadership Project will provide the knowledge and skills necessary for participants to overcome the barriers faced by women who desire to advance in leadership. Though society has changed dramatically over the past 40 years, many organizational structures, processes, and cultural norms remain in a place which hinder leadership opportunities for women and girls. Second, the Women's Leadership Project will build on and promote the talents and traits that women naturally possess that benefit the leadership process. The collaborative nature and spirit of women brings a unique advantage to building teams, coalitions, and the process of leading others.
The Red Flag Campaign is and awareness program designed to reduce dating violence on college campuses. It encourages friends to say something when they see warning signs, or Red Flags, for dating violence in a friend's relationship. Launched in 2007, the Red Flag Campaign is now on over 100 campuses. Fort Hays State University is proud to be one of those campuses.
