Careers
If you choose to major in chemistry you will be given
a basis, upon graduation, for employment in chemical or related
industries, entry into graduate school, transfer to a medical or
dental school, entry into the many environmental fields which are
increasingly important, or employment in the myriad of industries
which depend on chemists for their continued success.
Supplementing your chemistry courses with studies
in other areas such as agriculture, biology, geosciences, physics
and business gives you the opportunity to tailor your program to
individual interests and vocational goals. A minor in chemistry
will strengthen majors in many other disciplines, enhancing your
understanding of the factors which influence all aspects of the
modern world.
Need for Chemists -
Government agencies are predicting that there
will be severe shortages of scientists in the very near future.
Thus, students entering chemistry programs at this time should expect
to find an extremely good job market upon graduation.
