The FHSU Faulkner Entrepreneurship Challenge is a venture idea competition that is open to all full-time and part-time, undergraduate and graduate students from Fort Hays State University enrolled during the spring 2017 semester.

The competition consists of four weeks in which students will be assisted in a series of workshops which will provide key tools for the development of their startups. During the first phase, students will come up with ideas, form teams, and prepare an initial market research where the teams will survey their ideal customers. Based on the feedback received, the teams will have to make adjustments to their product/service in order to meet their customer's expectations. Next, students will receive a workshop about Social Media Marketing which will provide them knowledge to attain customer validation in an inexpensive way. Following this, students will have assistance with the financial projections of their startups. This will help them check their cash flow projections and the different streams of revenue that their startup will need in order to be profitable. Last, the Pitch Academy workshop will give valuable insights to improve the students presentations so they can deliver stunning pitches that truly show the value of their startup. During the last phase of the competition, students will have final presentations where the teams will have 5 minutes to pitch their product or service and 5 minutes of questions and answers.

Also, during the development each stage, guidance and assistance will be provided by experienced mentors from different departments. Finally, the top three teams will receive money prizes as indicated below. Any of the teams participating in the FHSU Entrepreneurship Challenge may participate at other entrepreneurial competitions around the country where they will be able to compete for additional money awards.
