Adobe InDesign for Beginners

Overview:

This workshop welcomes beginners who would like to learn to design visual materials using Adobe InDesign (Creative Cloud version) software. The workshop offers strategic design knowledge and skills necessary to produce high quality materials for print and web such as business cards, postcards, posters, flyers, letterhead, brochures, and more!

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the understanding of basic rules in publication design, including how to choose, draw, and edit shapes, colors, and typography
  • Develop Adobe InDesign skills through various problem-solving projects
  • Design and produce original print publications with visual impact
  • Create a variety of aesthetically pleasing personal and business documents

Facilitator:

This workshop is facilitated by Dr. Sungwon Chung

Dr. Sungwon Chung has a Ph.D. in Mass Communications, and Ed.D. in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University.  He  is an assistant professor of communication studies at Fort Hays State University. He teaches public relations, advertising, and mass communication courses including Strategic Writing and Ethics and Visual and Creative Design. His research focuses on understanding how humans interact with strategic communication messages in visual media. His recent projects explore how media content and structural features (especially in emerging media including animations, video games, and social media) influence human emotion, motivation, and cognition. His findings have appeared in leading scholarly journals including Communication Research, Psychology & Marketing, Instructional Science, New Media & Society, British Journal of Educational Technology, Interactive Learning Environments, and others.
