"ABC's" of Grant Writing

Overview

This half-day workshop is designed as an introduction for beginners and as a refresher for grant writers looking to polish existing skills and receive updates about funding trends. This workshop is designed for people who work with schools, non-profits, and economic development organizations. Participants will learn strategies to find federal and non-federal funding sources, the basics of proposal development, and tips for increasing the competitiveness of your proposal.

  • Identify sources for potential grants
  • Understand requests for proposals, and interpret guidelines
  • Learn logic models and integrate each component of the grant into the final product
  • Learn strategies for writing competitive grants

Facilitator

Facilitated by Leslie Paige, Coordinator for the FHSU Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects (OSSP). Leslie Paige worked with grants for over 20 years as a K-12 educator, grant director, and federal grant reviewer. Since 2003, she has facilitated all grant submissions at FHSU. Leslie works closely with faculty, staff, and administration to help develop competitive proposals. The number and amount of funded grants for FHSU have grown significantly under her leadership. She has conducted over a hundred presentations on several topics, including successful grant seeking and strategic planning at the local, state, and national levels.
