If you think nothing could be more rewarding than teaching young people the knowledge and skills they need to become productive members of society, look no further.

Education and technology go hand-in-hand at Fort Hays State University. Through the College of Education, students become leaders in classrooms, schools, communities, and industries.

Working with local, state, regional, and national agencies, the College of Education prepares students for fulfilling careers as educators with the tools to teach effectively. Preparation is based on technical skills, knowledge acquired through liberal arts and sciences, professional education courses, and clinical experiences. Through these experiences, teachers and other school personnel are prepared to ensure excellence in teaching while actively investing in their own professional development.

We take great pride in preparing early childhood, elementary and secondary teachers, special education teachers, school specialists in reading, library media, English as a Second or Other Language, counselors, and school administrators for schools. We also prepare community counselors and business/industrial personnel. We offer bachelor, master, and education specialist degrees housed in two outstanding departments - Advanced Education Programs and Teacher Education.

We are committed to offering quality programs that prepare candidates to meet state and national standards. The programs offered through our College have been accredited through the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

The College has caring, knowledgeable faculty members who love to teach. Faculty members are excellent academicians and practitioners, with knowledge grounded both in theory and school/industry-based experiences. They conduct meaningful research and provide service that positively impacts the lives of our partners, community, university, and specialized professions. Our students are exceptional and equally committed to excellence in education.
