Speech Sound Disorders

 The area of speech sound disorders covers a wide variety of difficulties that might present in both children and adults. Difficulties can range from a child who produces a single sound incorrectly to an adult who has suffered from a stroke and is now unable to produce many sounds accurately as a result of weakness or change in tone of muscles (i.e., dysarthria) or motor planning of movements (i.e., apraxia of speech).

Children learn to produce individual sounds or sound patterns. Assessment and treatment are planned for the specific needs of the individual.
