*The on-campus clinical education includes a variety of settings.  These settings may include the following:  Herndon Clinic, headstart classes,  school settings, Hays Children's Center, Hays Medical Center, and various long term care facilities.

*The externship is usually a full semester of clinical work with approximately half of a semester within a school setting and half within a hospital setting.

  • Taken during last semester of graduate program although variations of this scheduling does occur at times.

The graduate program in speech-language pathology in the Department of Communication Disorders at Fort Hays State University is nationally accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The Department prepares students for clinical certification by ASHA and professional Licensure by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
