In Memory

The Department of Communication Disorders is saddened to announce that Elizabeth (Libby) Ann George Edmund passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Libby is fondly remembered by a number of alumni as she taught at Fort Hays State University from 1968 to 1982. She and her husband retired in 1982 and moved to their family farm outside of Topeka, KS.

While at FHSU, Libby taught a number of academic courses but her most memorable legacy is her spontaneous sense of optimism and joy she expressed while working with children with communiation disorders and their families. Both faculty members and former students are forever indebted to her as she was a living example of excellence in both professional and personal values.

The Department wanted to let faculty and alumni know that contributions in Libby Edmund's name may be made to the FHSU Foundation. These funds should be directed to the Geneva Herndon Scholarship at the FHSU Foundation. Scholarships from this fund are awarded annually to both graduate and undergraduate students. During the presentation of these awards, we will tell the recepients not only of Geneva's role in establishing the program, but how, in partnership with Geneva, Libby was responsible for the academic training of the first generation of SLP Master's Degree graduates from Fort Hays State University.
