Department of Communication Disorders

Student Organizations

The Department of Communication Disorders has an active local chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA). Both undergraduate and graduate students participate in the FHSU local chapter. In addition to membership in the local chapter, students may hold membership in the national division of the NSSLHA as well as the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Students in these organizations have the opportunity to participate in research, presentations, field trips, workshops, and conventions.

Locally, student members are involved in service projects with all ages throughout the community. During the last several years, the FHSU-NSSLHA group has been involved in the spelling bee.

Review the NSSLHA activities:

The group frequently sponsors social activities to allow students and faculty to get to know each other and interact. Field trips to visit hospital, school, and rehabilitation sites outside of Hays are planned during Spring Semester.
