IV. EMPLOYMENT: List in chronological order
your employment since completing the bachelor's degree.
1 1975-1981: Oklahoma Publishing Co., (Daily Oklahoman
and Oklahoma City Times), Oklahoma City, OK. I worked on the news
desk as a copy editor, wire editor, copy chief and layout editor. When
I left, I was Assistant Metro Editor for the Times and worked with
reporters on job assignments, edited copy and designed pages for two
metro sections each week. I also worked as a metro reporter, covering
city government, police, schools and other activities in several eastern
Oklahoma County communities.
2 1983-1984: Graduate Assistantship, University of
Oklahoma, Norman, OK. I worked in the office of the Oklahoma
Interscholastic Press Association, a state organization for
secondary school publications. Duties included preparing
brochures, writing press releases and letters and assisting in
administrative duties for the organization. I helped organize and taught
at fall and spring conferences, summer workshops and other special
campus events.
3 1984-1989: Instructor of Journalism, Cameron
University, Lawton, OK. Courses taught included Introduction to
Journalism, News Editing, Typography and Design, Yearbook Production
and Professional Writing. I also served as adviser to the prize-winning
Wichita Yearbook and was responsible for administering the $50,000
annual yearbook budget. I also supervised the design and production of the
campus literary anthology, The Forum. Departmental duties included
membershp on the departmental personnel committee and working on the
committee that wrote and designed a brochure advertising the new Communications
Major to prospective students.

Teaching Assignment at Fort Hays State University:
I am on a 12-month contract. I teach 10 hours Fall and Spring
semesters and 7 hours during the Summer. I receive .25 reassigned
time to advise The University Leader, the campus newspaper. I
serve as academic adviser to around 20 students per semester. Courses
taught include Mass Media in A Free Society, News Reporting, Leader Lab,
News Editing, Feature Writing, and Scholastic Journalism and Publications
Advising.
