Dr. Lucas joined the Department of Criminal Justice in 2016. He received his doctorate from the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Prior to obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Lucas worked within the magisterial, criminal, and problem-solving court system in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was also a liaison to community corrections offices and local and state correctional institutions. His research focuses on problem-solving courts, veterans’ treatment courts, and criminal justice policy and involves quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches. In addition, Dr. Lucas is also interested in the application of justice within the United States court system and sentencing outcomes. His research has been published in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry and the Criminal Justice Policy Review.
