RULES
1. THROWING CANDY, GUM OR SIMILAR ITEMS FROM FLOATS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
This practice can result in injury to spectators and slows the progress of the parade. If you dispense treats, please have
someone walk along the side of your entry and hand them out. DO NOT ENTICE CHILDREN INTO THE STREET TO PICK UP TREATS!

2. Entrants must submit a completed entry form to UAB in the Memorial Union by 4:30pm, Friday, September 19.
3. Entries received after deadline will be placed behind previously registered entries.
4. No entry will win more than one award.
5. If only one entry is received in a category, judges will determine its eligibility to receive prize money.
6. Prize winners must complete the parade route to receive prize money.
7. All entries must display a parade number, and the name of the company or business. The UAB/FHSU Homecoming Parade Committee
will assign and provide the entry number.
8. Any colorful material such as cellophane, cardboard, cloth, tinsel, paint, paper or flowers may be used in float construction.
9. NO ENTRY WILL BE ALLOWED TO STOP ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE AND INTERRUPT THE FLOW OF THE PARADE!

10. Decisions of the judges are final.
PRIZES
Prize money and plaques are provided by the FHSU Homecoming Parade Committee from money contributed by The Volga German Society of Ellis County, the Hays Chamber of Commerce, FHSU Alumni Association and The Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau.
SWEEPSTAKES AWARD - $200 cash & plaque - All entries are eligible for the Sweepstakes Award.
PRESIDENT’S AWARD - $150 cash & plaque - FHSU Organizations are eligible for the President’s Award.
FOUNDERS AWARD - $100 cash & plaque - FHSU Organizations are eligible for the Founders Award.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARD - $100 cash & plaque - Members of the business community are eligible.
HERITAGE AWARD - $100 cash & plaque - Nonprofit organizations are eligible.
TIGER SPIRIT AWARD - $75 cash & plaque - Walking groups only are eligible.
HOMECOMING PRIDE AWARD - $50 cash & plaque - Walking groups only are eligible.
JUDGING
1. Entries will be judged on costumes, relationship to the theme, creativity, visual effect (design, craftsmanship, etc.) and animation.
2. Judging will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2008. LOCATION: Main Street Terrace (just east of the Messiah Lutheran
Church at 20th & Main).
3. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF YOUR LINEUP POSITION. Parade lineup begins at 9:30 a.m.
