How do I use the Digital Dropbox?
Students can use the Digital Dropbox in Blackboard to submit assignments to an instructor. To use the Digital Dropbox, the student should go to Tools, and then click Digital Dropbox. There are two options: Add File and Send File. Using Add File simply adds the file into the Student's dropbox - it does not submit it to the instructor. The student must then use Send File to submit an added file to the instructor. The Send File option can be used to simultaneously add and send a file to an instructor.
A student can remove added files from the Dropbox. However, once a file has been submitted to the instructor, the Remove button is no longer available; the student cannot remove files submitted to the instructor from the Digital Dropbox.
Only after the instructor has submitted the file back to the student, perhaps with feedback, can they remove the file from their own Dropbox. Also, if the instructor removes it from their own Dropbox, then the student will have the ability to remove it from theirs.

Why am I receiving a timeout error while trying to submit an assignment to SafeAssign?
This is most likely caused by difficulty connecting to the server located at SafeAssign.Try submitting the assignment at a later time. If that does not work, clear your browser cache and then try submitting the assignment. If you continue to experience problems submitting to SafeAssign, please contact the CTC HelpDesk , and provide the following information:
- When did the error(s) occur?
- What was the error message(s)?
- Which course did this occur in (please provide course name and number), and which assignment within that course?
- Who is the instructor for your course?
If the problem persists, a system administrator can contact SafeAssign to report the problem.

Why won’t the Digital Dropbox / SafeAssign accept my document?
When submitting a file to the Digital Dropbox or SafeAssign:
- The name of the file should not contain any spaces or special characters.
- Files created using Office 2007 may have file extensions that are not recognized by SafeAssign. Acceptable file extensions for uploading files through SafeAssign are: .doc .docx .txt .rtf .html .odt .zip and .pdf . See Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Information for further information.
- Supported browsers for use with SafeAssign and Digital Dropbox are: Internet Explorer and FireFox. Other browsers may not function properly.
- Papers uploaded to SafeAssign cannot be more than 10MB in size or contain more than 5000 sentences.
- The maximum file size that may be transferred to or from the Digital Dropbox (per transfer) is 200 MB. Please note that large file transfers may experience slower response times.
If the above suggestions do not resolve the problem, it is possible that a Java installation issue may be causing the problem. For more information, see How to Install or Update Java.
