What is my LN e-mail address?

The format for your address is: LNusername@fhsu.edu
If you wish, you may also use the alternate format: LNusername@tiger.fhsu.edu

Here are several ways to find your LN e-mail address:

  • Log into the LN Client (or have a friend do so), open the FHSU Address Book, and click on the People view. Simply begin typing your last name and a search box will appear. Click OK. After locating your name, double-click on it. Under the Basics tab, the Short name/UserID is your LN Username (ID).
  • Go to the TigerTracks Web portal at tigertracks.fhsu.edu and use the Directory Search application. Enter your last name in the search box, click Faculty/Staff, and then click Go. Your e-mail address will be displayed.
  • If you are unable to locate your LN e-mail address, contact the CTC HelpDesk for further assistance.

Is there a limit to the amount of space my LN files can use on the server?

Yes, the limit on storage space is 100 MB. You will receive a warning message when you reach 90 MB. If you receive a warning message, it is very important that you remove any unnecessary files to clear space before you reach the 100 MB limit. If unnecessary files are not removed periodically, graphics, web pages, sound files, or other application files can fill up this space quickly. In addition, there is a set amount of this space that is required simply to make an account available for use so it can function properly. For more information, see Clearing Space in Lotus Notes.

How do I create links in LN?

  • The easiest way to create a link to a Web page is to type the Web page address in the body of a new memo, making sure to include the http:// or https:// portion at the beginning of the address. For example, to include the Web page for the CTC HelpDesk in your memo, you would type http://www.fhsu.edu/ctc/helpdesk/. LN will automatically recognize the text as a Web page.
  • The recommended method of creating a link is to copy and paste the address (URL) from the address line of your Internet browser into the body of your memo.
  • You can also create a link using text of your choice. This must also be done within the body of a memo. Type your text, and then select the portion you wish to use for the link. From the menu, choose Create, Hotspot, Link Hotspot. In the Value field of the Hotspot Resource Link dialog box, type the Web page address (URL). Click the X in the upper right corner of the Hotspot Resource Link dialog box to close it. You will be returned to your note, and the URL will be automatically highlighted. A person who receives the note and clicks on the URL address will be taken to that Web page. To avoid confusion, please make sure the URL is correct.

Note: Your link will not work as a Web page before you send your note. To test your link, send the note to yourself, open it, and click on the link.

How do I check someone else's calendar?

If you are using the Lotus Notes Client, go to your Inbox.

  • Open your own calendar by clicking on the down arrow next to Mail and selecting Switch to Calendar or by clicking on the calendar icon on the left side of your window. Click on More (or Tools) , and select Open Person's Calendar.
  • Select the person’s name and click OK. If you receive an error “You are not authorized to perform that operation” – the person must give permission for others to view his/her calendar before you will be able to see it.

If you are using iNotes (browser) access, open your calendar.

  • Next, click on Open Calendar For... and then click on the down-arrow. Search in the FHSU Address Book, select the person's name, and click OK.
  • Click OK again to view the calendar. If you are prompted for a login or otherwise not allowed access to the calendar, the person may not have given permission for others to view the calendar.

How can I keep all the names from printing when I send e-mail to a distribution/group list?

When sending mail to a group list that is in your Personal Address Book, send the message to yourself (put your own address in the To: entry), and put the group list name in the blind carbon copy (bcc:) entry instead of the To: entry.

When sending mail to a group list that is not in your Personal Address Book, but is in the FHSU Address Book, you can put the group name in the To: entry, and the names will not be printed.

When searching for the name of a group that is entered in the address section of a new memo, LN first goes to your Personal Address Book to find the name. If it doesn’t find it there, it will then go to the FHSU Address Book to find it. Copying FHSU Address Book groups such as Faculty or Staff into your Personal Address Book is not recommended, because the groups are modified continually as personnel turnover occurs, and your copy will quickly become outdated.

If you have copied a group from the FHSU Address Book into your Personal Address Book, you should suppress the names from printing when sending mail to that group by following the instructions in the first paragraph of this section.

When accessing my e-mail through iNotes (with an Internet browser), my menu is not displayed. How can I fix this?

Close your browser, then reopen it and log in to iNotes.
