How can I change my LN Client and LN Internet passwords?

How can I choose a good password?

I changed my password, and now it will not work when I try to access LN from off campus. What should I do?

I changed my LN Client password on one computer, but when I try to log in with my new password on another computer, it doesn’t work. What should I do?

What are my LN username (ID) and password?

The username (ID) for your LN e-mail account should have been provided to you when your account was created. Your username is the portion of your LN e-mail address before the @ symbol. For information about how to look up your Lotus Notes e-mail address, see What is my LN e-mail address?

There are actually two separate passwords for Lotus Notes. One is used for accessing your files through the LN Client and the second is used for accessing your files through the Internet (either with an e-mail program or through iNotes). It is strongly recommended that you change both passwords as soon as you begin using LN.

For more information, see How secure are YOUR passwords? and Changing Your Lotus Notes Passwords.

What should I do if I forget my password?

There are actually two separate passwords for LN: one for accessing your LN files through the Client software and another for accessing your files through the Internet.

If you ever forget your LN Client password, you will need to contact the CTC HelpDesk to have your LN Internet password reset - it also cannot be looked up.

For more information, see How secure are YOUR passwords? and Changing Your Lotus Notes Passwords. There are actually two separate passwords for LN: one for accessing your LN files through the Client software and another for accessing your files through the Internet. If you review these instructions and still cannot resolve your password problem, contact the CTC HelpDesk for assistance.

I changed my LN Client password on one computer, but when I try to log in with my new password on another computer, it doesn’t work. What should I do?

The LN Client password allows access by using the user.id file that is stored on your computer. Therefore, it must be changed on each computer separately. Log in to the second computer using your old LN Client password and then change it to the new password. For details on how to change your password, review the instructions for Changing Your Lotus Notes Passwords.
