I am using an e-mail program (such as
Outlook Express) to access my email account. I can receive notes
with no problem, but when I try to send notes, I receive an error.
This may be due to security and virus protection
safeguards on FHSU's e-mail systems. Only those who connect through
FHSU Internet connections are allowed to use FHSU servers to send
e-mail. Therefore, if you have a non-FHSU Internet connection, you
will need to contact your Internet Service Provider and ask for
the SMTP (Outgoing Mail) server name to use in your e-mail setup.
Likewise, FHSU Internet users must use an FHSU server to send mail,
even when sending mail from a non-FHSU e-mail address. If you wish to use an FHSU Internet
connection to send mail from a non-FHSU e-mail address, you may use either tiger.fhsu.edu or scatcat.fhsu.edu in the SMTP (Outgoing Mail) server entry in your e-mail setup.
