Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility Information
Internet Explorer 8 has implemented some new improvements, and many Internet applications have not yet been updated to become compliant with the new standards. This can cause various types of functionality and display problems.
There are several potential solutions available:
- Internet Explorer 8 includes a Compatibility View tool that can be enabled. This tool will allow your browser to view the page as if you were still using Internet Explorer 7. There are several ways you can enable Compatibility View:
There is a Compatibility View button on the main tool bar that you can click to enable this functionality for a particular page you are viewing.
A second option is to enable the Compatibility View for all Web sites. To do this, click on Tools, choose Compatibility View Settings, place a check mark next to Display all websites in Compatibility View, and then click Close.
A third option would be to add fhsu.edu to the list of sites you wish to view using the Compatibility View. Please note that depending on your browser settings, this site list may be deleted when your browser is closed, and you may have to add this setting again.
- Use Mozilla Firefox. Firefox can be downloaded free from mozilla.com.
- Uninstall Internet Explorer version 8, and revert back to using version 7. This can be done using the Add/Remove Programs application in the Control Panel.
