Managing Your Scatcat File Space
Here is some information about the space limitations
that apply to FHSU student Scatcat accounts and how to
manage your file space.
We recommend that everyone with a Scatcat account check their e-mail at least once a week so they will be informed of any maintenance, service, or policy changes that may occur. We recommend removing unnecessary messages and files regularly.
A 100 MiB "E-Mail" Quota (Limit) applies to ALL e-mail messages in your Scatcat account. This includes messages (and their attachments) stored in your Inbox, Trash, and Sent folders, as well as any e-mail folders you may have created on the Scatcat server. Once the E-Mail Quota has been reached, any new messages will be returned undeliverable. To avoid reaching this quota, messages can be deleted from your e-mail folders or transferred to your personal computer. When using POP3 settings in an e-mail program (such as Outlook Express), this can only be accomplished by configuring the program to "remove messages from the server."
When your e-mail quota is exceeded, the Delete option may not work. In this case, you should use the Bypass Trash option in TigerTracks Webmail to delete messages.. The Bypass Trash option will immediately and permanently remove messages from your account, while the Delete option sends messages to your Trash folder, which actually adds to your space usage.
You can view the amount of space being used by your e-mail folders by logging in to the TigerTracks portal at tigertracks.fhsu.edu, clicking on the Webmail tab, clicking on the Folders icon, and then clicking Check Folder Filespace.
A 500 MiB "Data" Quota applies to
the total amount of file space residing on the server for an actively
enrolled student's account. This includes all Web pages and any other personal files (including the H: drive / My Documents folder).
A
Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) program can be used to delete files
from your account. Instructions for Transferring Files to and
from your Scatcat Account are available in the E-Mail
and Web Pages section of our Web site.
If there is a course-related reason requiring
you to retain your files, please have your instructor send an e-mail
explaining your needs to us at helpdesk@fhsu.edu. |
