TigerTracks Tips

By now, hopefully you have had a chance to register and log in to the new TigerTracks portal, located at tigertracks.fhsu.edu. We are excited about the new services and features it provides, including Announcements, the Course Schedule search, and its customizable layout. If you haven’t registered yet or if you have forgotten your user name and password, you can obtain your login information by visiting the registration site at tigertracks.fhsu.edu/register/.

TigerTracks provides secure single sign-on access to student Scatcat e-mail, the Blackboard course delivery system, Announcements, and other FHSU Online Services, including personal address information, financial aid status, class schedules, grades, and transcripts. You can even customize your TigerTracks home page by creating your own bookmarks and choosing from different channels (information sources) to display - from news and entertainment to your favorite daily cartoons and other online services.

The TigerTracks portal is currently in its initial stages of development, so watch for new services and features to be added as development continues.

Here are a few TigerTracks Tips to enhance your portal experience:

  • For login information, basic information about the portal, and links to help documents, click on the Help tab on the main TigerTracks login page.
  • To find out what various icons do, move your mouse pointer over each icon to view its description.
  • To go back to a previous page in the portal, use the “Return to portal” icon, located in the upper left corner of the window. We do not recommend using your browser’s “Back” button, as it may not always work as expected due to security features within the portal.
  • To open a channel in a new window, click on the “Detach” icon, located on right side of the channel’s title bar.
  • To add your favorite bookmarks to your home page, click on the “Add a bookmark” icon in the Bookmarks section. To open a bookmarked page in a new window, right-click on the desired bookmark and choose “Open in New Window.”
  • To add new tabs or channels to your home page, click on the “Preferences“ link and then click on “New Tab” or “New Channel.”
  • To change the skin (color scheme), click on the “Preferences” link and then click “Choose a skin.” Choose the desired skin and then click “Apply."

Volume Discount Prices Available Through Online Software Center

Fort Hays State University has partnered with e-academy to provide an online Software Center for sales of Microsoft products available on our Student Select and Work-At-Home licensing agreements. We are excited to be able to provide these software products to our students, faculty, and staff at volume discount prices.

We are currently investigating new product opportunities with e-academy as they become available. Check with the CTC HelpDesk or log in to the Software Center to view products currently available. If you have forgotten your login information for the Software Center, go to the Software Center login page, click on the "Forgot Password" link, and enter your full FHSU e-mail address. A message containing your login information will be e-mailed to you. If you are not currently registered in the Software Center, contact the CTC HelpDesk to inquire about your eligibility.

Prices (including shipping) for most products are in the $60 - $80 range for students (license included) and in the $15 - $25 range for faculty and staff (license not included). Work-At-Home products are made available to faculty and staff under Fort Hays State University's campus license agreement; therefore faculty and staff may purchase the media only, without a license. Currently employed faculty and staff who are covered under FHSU's campus license agreement are eligible to make purchases.

Plan Ahead. If you wish to order products from the Software Center, please plan ahead to allow up to one week for shipping time. Purchases can be made using a credit card or any debit card that uses a regular credit card number, such as the Visa Checkcard. Tiger Card holders with a Commerce Bank account may apply for a Visa Checkcard by visiting Commerce Bank.

For More Information: For answers to eligibility, login, and other frequently asked questions, please view our Software Center information page at www.fhsu.edu/ctc/helpdesk/software_center.shtml.

New Mobile Computing Web Site Provides Specifications

The educational environment at Fort Hays State University and other universities across the nation is rapidly being reshaped by changes in the mobile computing industry.
