I have worked
in the Computing
and Telecommunication Center (CTC) at Fort Hays State
University since 1980 and am an FHSU graduate with degrees
in Data Processing and Computer Information Systems. I currently
work in the User Services section as an Information Technology
Consultant II. My office is located in Tomanek Hall and you
can reach me by phone at (785) 628-4031.
Some of my job
duties include writing and editing instructional manuals for
Lotus Notes, MS Office applications such as Beginning and
Intermediate Word and Excel, Internet Basics, CICS Administrative
Systems, and various other handouts as needed. I conduct training
sessions for Lotus Notes E-Mail and Calendar, CICS Administrative
Systems, Beginning and Intermediate Word, Beginning and Intermediate
Excel, Internet Basics, and a variety of other systems as
needed. In addition, I provide assistance and resolve problems
for users who call for various computer, software, or system-related
problems, and/or questions about Lotus Notes and the various
other systems used at FHSU.

I am the supervisor
of all three of the CTC Tomanek Hall Computer labs (TH121,
TH123, and TH127) and the lab monitors who work in
the them. Some of my responsibilities with the computer
labs include reserving
and maintaining a schedule for the various classes and
computer workshops conducted throughout each semester.
My responsibilities for the lab monitors include interviewing,
hiring, scheduling, and resolving problems. Student E-mail
and Internet sessions are scheduled and taught by the
student lab monitors at the beginning of each semester.
In general, I oversee the operation of the CTC labs and
their staff. |
I am also responsible
for gathering information, writing, editing, and publishing
the CTC
Newsletter; the newsletter is co-edited by my supervisor,
Jane
Rajewski, Information Center Manager, and myself. Before
the beginning of each fall semester, I prepare a large informational
newsletter that contains a considerable amount of helpful
information about CTC resources, a CTC
Staff Directory, and an FHSU
Lab Document Information brochure that lists all of the
computer labs on campus, hours, the type of equipment and
software that each contains, and various other related information.
Other informational brochures and handouts are produced as
needed.
Occasionally, I
evaluate new software to determine if the CTC should purchase
it. Designing web pages for my area is also part of my responsibilities.
Each day brings a new challenge. Feel free to come visit us
or request or services.
