Know Issues


Current Issues - Updated Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 

The following known issues will be resolved by upcoming system upgrade:
  • Grade Center columns associated with gradable discussion forums
    can't be deleted.
  • Cells in last row of Grade Center are inaccessible in Internet
    Explorer 8 and 9.
  • Announcement emails are not sent from courses containing a
    colon in their name.
  • Grade Center columns created with a category of "No Category"
    causes the "Needs grading" functionality not to work.  
      

Issues Resolved by the System Update on August 2nd, 2011 

  • The latest versions of Internet Explorer (IE9), Mozilla Firefox (4)
    and Google Chrome are not compatible with Blackboard.
  • Cells in last rows of Grade Center are inaccessible in Internet
    Explorer 8.
     
      
  • The Quick Column Information box will disappear when the
    horizontal scroll bar is placed to the far left.
      
  • Calendar displays incorrectly in IE in date picker and in
    calendar view by month.
      
  • Newly created URL links created in the Text Editor with the
    Open in New Window option selected don't open in a new window;
    they open in the existing window.

YouTube Mashup Issue
Y
ouTube changed a part of their API (Application Programming Interface), so that the search feature of Blackboard's Mashup tool no longer communicates properly with YouTube's servers. Existing mashups (Flickr Photo and SlideShare Presentation) still work.     
         Resolved by the system update scheduled on May 17, 2011. 

Workaround: 
Access YouTube directly, then  copy the Embed code from the video you wish to display in your course. Please click on the link below to view how to embed You Tube Videos into Blackboard.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGh9n1yyCdI

Course Copy Issue
Copied Courses containing 
links to original courses which gives students an error message stating they don’t have permission to access content.
                 Resolved by the system update scheduled on May 17, 2011.  

Workaround: Re-upload the associated files. If the error message appear in most of the course area, contact CTELT for assistance.


Issue Description 

Resolution or Workaround 
Open File Issue
If a file is attached in an an assignment with a ';' or '#' symbol in the name, a "404 NOT FOUND" error will come up, and the file cannot be viewed.
       Resolved by the system update scheduled on May 17, 2011. 

Workaround: Don't use spaces, commas, pound signs (#), question marks, equal signs, dashes or any other special characters in your file names.

Broken Tool Link Issue
course tool link (Discussion Board, Blog, Journal, Wiki, etc.) in content area will be broken if the link has been edited and re-submitted. The users will receive an error message:
An error occurred. Contact the System Administrator.

        
Resolved by the system update scheduled on May 17, 2011.  

Workaround:
Delete the tool link and create a new one.

 


Issue Description

Resolution or Workaround 
When trying to "Save Draft" within a graded Discussion BoardForum students may receive a red error message.          Resolved by the system update scheduled on May 17, 2011. 

Workaround:
Please advise students not to use this feature at this time.  

 


Issue Description  

Resolution or Workaround  
For individual (private) Journals, students will only see their current week's or month's journal entries, and they do not see an Index Panel for selecting a previous week's or month's entries to view.         Resolved by the system update scheduled on May 17, 2011. 

Workaround:
To
 make previous entries visible to the students, the instructor can comment on them. Group journals do not experience this issue. 

 



Issue Description 
Resolution or Workaround
Students receive error message when trying to view SafeAssignmentsfeedback in My Grades page. 
  
 The workaround is to head back to the view/complete link where students submit their assignment to view the feedback. The problem will be fixed in a future release.
