Office 2007 - Saving documents for Office 2003
If you are running Microsoft Office 2007, please be aware that the default file formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .accdb) are incompatible with Microsoft Office 2003 and earlier versions. (This is not a problem with Blackboard, but will make it difficult for anyone opening files retrieved out of Blackboard who do not have Office 2007.) To set your Office 2007 programs to default to a compatible format, please follow the following instructions:
Word 2007:
- Click the round Office Button in the upper left-hand corner.
- Click the “Word Options” button.
- Choose “Save.”
- Next to “Save files in this format:” choose “Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)” option.
- Click OK.
Excel 2007:
- Click the round Office Button in the upper left-hand corner.
- Click the “Excel Options” button.
- Choose “Save.”
- Next to “Save files in this format:” choose “Excel 97-2003 Workbook” option.
- Click OK.
PowerPoint 2007:
- Click the round Office Button in the upper left-hand corner.
- Click the “PowerPoint Options” button.
- Choose “Save.”
- Next to “Save files in this format:” choose “PowerPoint Presentation 97-2003” option. Click OK.
Access 2007:
- Click the round Office Button in the upper left-hand corner.
- Click the “Access Options” button.
- Choose “Popular.”
- Next to “Default file format:” choose “Access 2002-2003” option.
- Click OK.
