New Staff
We are excited that four four new staff members joined CTELT this fall: Shanna Butel, Matt Carroll, Jake Glover, and Dr. Bo Yang.
Shanna is our new Office Manager. Shanna used to work in an eye doctor’s office before joinning the FHSU community. Shanna has lots of experience as an receptionist.
Matt is the new Integrated Learning Technologies Specialist. Matt completed his master’s degree in instructional technology at FHSU in May, and he has teaching experience in K-12 settings. Matt will be the main trainer and consultant in the area of mobile technologies.
Jake joins CTELT as an interim Faculty Development Coordinator. Jake completed his master’s degree from the Department of Educational Administration and Counseling at FHSU in May. He has recently started his doctoral program at Kansas State University.
Bo joins CTELT as a Technology Support Specialist, and she will be our major Blackboard administrator, trainer, and consultant. Bo has recently completed her doctorate in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on educational computing, design and online learning from Kansas State University.
Professional Conferences
Martin Kollman, CTELT'S Technology Support Specialist, attended the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) on June 24-27 in Atlanta, Georgia. This conference was directed to both higher education and K-12 educators who use technologies in and outside the traditional classroom. Over 13,000 faculty and teachers from all over the U.S. and North America attended the conference on pedagogy, instructional technology, distance education, emerging software and electronics. Martin attended a long list of presentations, workshops, and training sessions. He also brought back good resources for CTELT.
Andy Tincknell, CTELT’s Video Production Specialist, attended the Digital Video Expo on July 19-23 in New York. This three-day gathering of experts in the field of digital video was an opportunity to obtain new thoughts on how to improve production techniques. The show floor featured exhibitors showing the latest solutions and technology. In addition to participating in sessions focusing on high definition digital cameras, editing techniques, and computer generated effects, Andy also brought back some resources and ideas for CTLET services in the area of video production.
Hong Wang, Director of CTELT, attended the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) International Conference on March 26 – 30 in San Antonio, Texas. Hong made two presentations and gave two papers about the exploration and implementation of emerging technologies in higher education at the conference. In addition to her presentations, Hong also attended training sessions and panel presentations, participated in roundtable discussions, networked with professionals from other institutions, and gathered good ideas about the use of information technology in higher education.
