Scholarship Activities
Dr. Robert Luehrs, Teaching Excellence Coordinator, and his wife, Christiane, retired FHSU Instructor of English, recently published an article, “Caroline Roe: Isaac the Outsider,” in Ray B. Browne and Lawrence A. Kreiser, Jr., eds., The Detective as Historian: History and Art in Historical Crime Fiction, Volume II (Newcastle: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2007). The couples’ article concerns the historical crime fiction of Canadian novelist Caroline Roe, Whose sleuth is a blind, Jewish physician living in fourteenth century Spain. Robert and Chris have written a dozen essays and papers on “history mysteries.” This is an example of the far-ranging interests of the CTELT staff.
Dr. Hong Wang, Director of CTELT, has been selected to serve on two Program Committees of two prestigious international conferences sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) in 2008: Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) International Conference and World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia, and Telecommunications (ED-MEDIA). To serve on a program committee, a professional must be active in scholarly activities, have extensive publication experience, and review at least ten proposals. This year Hong will review 20 papers as her professional services for AACE. She is excited about this opportunity to serve as well as to have FHSU listed on the conference websites and printed on the conference programs.
