Support Services - CCTV & Satellite Downlinks
If video to your classroom is what you need…CTELT has the solution. CTELT manages two types of video playback systems for maximum convenience. CTELT can playback a tape, "downlink" a satellite program or redirect any city cable channel right to your classroom.
CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION PLAYBACKS
Similar to the cable system CTELT maintains the University's Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV). Faculty members may provide their own videotapes or choose one from the CTELT video library. Then CTELT will play the recording at a scheduled time. All you have to do is tune into the right channel.
CTELT processes over 300 CCTV playbacks a year.
VIDEO ON DEMAND
CTELT also maintains a Video on Demand system, which can be used in any Mediated Classroom or from most office desktop computers. Through the campus computing network, this system provides the power to select a video, start, pause, rewind and stop the video right from the desktop. All you have to do is access a web page and select the proper video.
To receive this service complete a CTELT "Request for Service" located on Lotus Notes (5 days notice is recommended).
SATELLITE DOWNLINKS
CTELT has the capabilities of delivering Satellite Downlinks to FHSU's students, faculty, departments, colleges and external parties. Satellite Downlinks can be broadcast live over the CCTV system, streamed through the Video on Demand system or recorded with permission from the downlink provider and played back at a later time.
If you find downlink that interests you or could be of interest to faculty and staff in your area, we can help you get the program scheduled.
FHSU is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service Adult Learning Service (ALS) and receives discounted rates. Through ALS the university can access complete telecourses and other programming, increase distance-learning opportunities, enrich classroom instruction, update faculty and provide community service. To see a list of upcoming ALS programs Click the resources button on the CTELT home page.
CTELT schedules over 100 satellite downlinks a year.
To schedule your satellite downlink contact Eva Gould or Kevin Staab.
