Instructional Design

martin, andy, mitchCourse design is a process in which a team gets involved. In order to assist faculty with this process, CTELT provides consultations, resources, standards and digital media production such as photography, graphics and animation, streaming audio, streaming video, CD-ROMs and DVDs based on the different needs of individual faculty members.

Supported delivery formats

Two-Way Interactive Television. IPTV (interactive television--two-way video and two-way audio) combines voice and visual technologies to closely resemble face-to-face classroom instruction. Course locations for IPTV are located on community college campuses, high school campuses and adult center locations.

Western Instructional Network (WIN). This telephone-based audio system allows instructors on the FHSU campus to simultaneously teach classes on the campuses of community colleges.

TELENET 2. Is a desktop video conferencing system using ISDN for connectivity. Each location is equipped with two-way voice and video communication.

CTELT is involved in the design of the following types of Virtual College courses:

On-Line Courses. Uses the World Wide Web & Blackboard for posting interactive information and the internet for collaboration between students and faculty.

Teleclasses. Taped lectures of FHSU professors. Many times they are frequently combined with e-mail and other technology deliveries.

CD-ROM Courses. Uses interactive CD-ROMs containing large amounts of audio, video, graphics and text. Many of these courses are linked to e-mail and the internet.

Multimedia Courses. These courses use a variety of synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods to emphasize interaction and collaborative learning between faculty and students. They may use any of the following modes of delivery: audiotape, videotape, computer conferencing, IPTV, TELENET 2, teleconferences, World Wide Web, Blackboard, DVDs,listservs, e-mail and printed materials.
