What are the minimum system requirements?
For windows you will need a Pentium 166, 48mb RAM, Windows 98 and Windows
Media Player 6.4 or higher (some systems will require Media Player
7), an Internet connection and a web browser.
For
Macintosh you will need a PowerPC-based processor Macintosh, 16mb RAM,
System 7.5.5 or higher and Quicktime
4.5 or higher, an Internet connection and a web browser.
How do I view the files using Netscape?
If you are a Netscape Communicator user you may need
to download an additional file to view the VOD
content. Once you have downloaded the file to your "My Documents"
folder, copy it to your "Plugins" folder under Netscape.
Example: "C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins"
Please contact CTELT at
4194 if you require assistance with this step or refer to our Netscape
Assistance page.
How do I request Video On Demand?
Go to Lotus Notes and send a CTELT Request for Services.
How do I make the video a full screen?
In Windows, if you are runnning Media Player 6.4, hold down on <Alt>
and hit <Enter>. Do this to make the screen small again.
If
you are running Media Player 7, go to the VIEW menu, select ZOOM and then
FULL SCREEN.
In
Macintosh, go to the MENU menu in Quicktime and select FILL SCREEN.
Can
I pause the video when it is in full screen?
Yes, simply click the mouse button to pause the video and click it again
to resume playing.
How can I make the video full screen and
keep the controls?
In
the VIEW menu, select COMPACT or MINIMAL and then maximize the window.
The compact mode will display a slider bar which allows you jump to different
points in the video. The video is streamed to your computer as it plays,
so keep in mind that you can only fast-forward to sections that have already
been sent to you. You can see the progress in the slider bar.
What software to I need to view a video?
All you need is a web browser and media player (version 6.3 or higher.)
Can students watch a video from their
house?
Not as of right now. The videos require a large amount of bandwidth, so
students will not be able to receive so much data at home fast enough
to make viewing possible.
