Most of you are aware of the precautions to
be taken in the event of a severe weather warning, most
of which are common sense, but there are a few specifics
that apply to campus.
- The campus warning siren is sounded only
when a funnel has been sighted and observed moving toward
the campus. Don't ignore it. No "all clear" signal is
given so as to avoid confusion in the event of multiple
funnels being observed.
- Recommended emergency office equipment:
flashlight, portable radio, spare batteries, first aid
kit.
- The greatest hazard is from flying glass,
so designated emergency tornado shelter areas for Academic
and Service Buildings are as follows:
Akers Energy Center - Restrooms and closets
Albertson Hall - Interior first floor corridors in the old
(north) section, away from entrances and windows
Brooks Building - Interior rooms or basement of Grounds
Building
Cunningham Hall - Interior corridors
Custer Hall - Basement and basement hallway
Davis Hall - Interior corridors in the east wing. The shop
wing should be evacuated.

room

Please report damage or injury to your building
supervisor, if possible, for relay to either the University
Police or the Physical Plant. Multiple reports of the same
event cause confusion. The following numbers will normally
be attended in an emergency:
- Campus Operator 0 or 628-4000
- University Police 628-5304
- Physical Plant 628-4424, 628-4180, 628-4238
Please do not call to report a power outage.
The campus is on one system, so if one building is out,
they all are. Call only if a true emergency exists. Thank
you.
