Work Schedule for Christmas Holiday Period 2012-2013

Memo to 12-month Personnel from President Edward H. Hammond

For the past several years, the University has phased down campus operations during the holiday season.  We will continue this tradition for the upcoming period.

This year we will close the University at the end of the business day at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012, and remain closed through Tuesday,
January 1, 2013.  Offices will reopen Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

Monday, December 24, Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1 are designated as state holidays.    Employees will take four days of leave time to cover December 26,27,28,31.

Veteran’s Day is Monday, November 12, and is a declared holiday for all employees.  If classified employees work on November 12, they will receive one and one-half days holiday comp credit which must be used during the scheduled holiday closing.  Unclassified full time employees who earn annual leave and are required to work on Veteran’s Day earn 8 hours of comp time.   The hours earned for working on Veteran's Day must be used during the traditional phase down of campus operations between the Christmas and New Year's holiday.     

The last day to use the 2012 discretionary day is December 21, 2012.  The Governor has again authorized a discretionary day for calendar year 2013.  The 2013 discretionary day will be credited to employees on December 23, 2012 and may be used through December 21, 2013.
