Description: Fort Hays State University seeks a full-time Registered Nurse (RN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Student Health Center. This position involves providing direct and individual care and treatment, participating in the development and implementation of professional nursing practices and maintaining individual records and charts. Prepare education programs concerning health and health behavior in the assigned priority areas, as related to college-aged students, staff, faculty, and patients as appropriate. Research health topics and develop presentations for students, staff, and faculty groups that are accurate and reflect optimum health care. Conduct and utilize various assessments to identify most common health priorities and issues applicable to the FHSU campus; and evaluate programming efforts. Supervise Peer Health Educators, consisting of paid student employees and volunteers. Responsible for interviewing and hiring; proper training and resources; time management; and performance evaluation. Functional supervision may be exercised over nursing assistants. Employee is expected to exercise independent professional nursing and health care judgments consulting with physician and other nursing staff as necessary. Assist in developing procedures and programs. Successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Student Health.Qualifications: Valid Kansas nursing license plus one year of professional nursing experience in a health care setting. Must exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to interact with patients in a caring and professional manner. Demonstrates appropriate service orientation in all interactions with patients, staff and visitors. Position requires ability to appropriately and professionally handle multiple and competing priorities as well as work well under pressure. Candidate must be a team player. Experience working in a clinic preferred.Salary: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. This position is a 9-month full-time position.
